Picketing Temporarily Canceled Due to NLRB Decision

Brothers and Sisters,

The picket this Sunday at Pier 33 has been canceled due to a decision by the NLRB to dismiss our appeal (for more information see below). Once again the NLRB has chosen to side with anti-union business interests and has firmly aligned themselves with the Bush lead attack on organized labor and working people.

This decision will not stop us from exposing Hornblower's poor business practices and revealing them for what they are: The Walmart of the waterfront. This is the company that cost 55 union members their jobs, they exploit their own workers and are devastating to the local environment. They cover all this up with lies and a paper thin marketing campaign.

This is why we must continue to put pressure on the National Park Service to cancel the contract. We believe that Alcatraz cruises is violating several agreements they made with the Park Service when taking over the ferry service to Alcatraz. Due to this we believe that the Park Service has no choice but to cancel the contract.

Furthermore, we have seen that relying on the courts, the NLRB and politicians has won us very few real victories. It's time to not only stay in the streets but to increase the pressure in order to win this fight!

We need your continued support while we transition into a new phase of our campaign. Please keep checking www.alcatrazunion.com for updates on future demonstrations and actions.
